St Michaels Church is a significant building and at the centre of the village of Tongwynlais. Built in 1875, it is joined by its sister church St. Mary & St. James, Taff's Well in the parish of Tongwynlais. It was built on land donated by the squire of the long gone Greenmeadow House mansion along with a £100 donation to build it. It's built from red and grey sandstone and the intricate chancel screen was donated by politician and ship-owner Sir Herbert Cory to celebrate the safe home-coming of soldiers from the 1st World War.
