The superbly ornate oval courtyard at Castell Coch, Tongwynlais created by William Burges for the 3rd Marquess of Bute, John Crichton-Stuart in 1875. The courtyard sits on top of a motte with cantilevered galleries and walkways running around the inside augmented with eye-catching woodwork.
